Education World Wide started providing online group classes alongside individual tutoring sessions with students. We had a couple of reasons for this decision. First, we got many requests from students and their parents. And second, we wanted to enable our students to find their study buddy who lives elsewhere. All this to create a unique learning experience for our students. This article will introduce you to a slightly different learning methodology that comes with online group classes.
EduWW is known for a specific learning methodology that rests on the self-paced learning and individual approach. One-on-one tutoring sessions enable our students to customize their schooling according to their needs. With individual online classes, our tutors get to know students better. They are then able to adjust their teaching style to each student’s skills and personal interests. That approach results in better and faster learning, and students who love classes and are looking forward to the next one. We recently talked about it in a podcast with our online tutors – check it out.
On the other side, online schooling gets criticism for its lack of socialization. And that is partially true, yet online schools’ main goal is to provide high-quality education, not socialization. By allowing students to enjoy a more flexible learning schedule, we gave them enough free time for hobbies. Through those activities, they can form and maintain friendships. However, we have never denied the necessity or the benefits of socialization in the school environment.
How Effective Are Online Classes
Having a Study Buddy Boosts Motivation for Learning
Last year, our online tutors conducted a few experiments, so to say. They have paired two students at a similar progression level into a joint online class on several occasions. To their surprise, students reacted excellently. Children were very curious to get to know classmates from the other side of the screen and talk with them. That increased students’ overall motivation for learning, and more importantly, they show eagerness to help and explain to their classmates if they didn’t understand something.
These little experiments left a strong impression on both students and tutors. We started getting a lot of requests from parents who were asking about the group classes. EduWW listens to student’s needs, which is why our tutors and Education Board made virtual group classes possible. That was by no means an easy task.
Because we are an international online school, our students come from literally every part of the world. Likewise, all our students learn at their own pace, so putting them in a group could upset their current learning habits. That is why our team has carefully thought this and developed a slightly different learning methodology for online group classes. With this approach, we make sure that students can still learn individually and in their own tempo and be able to socialize with their peers and learn in a group.
How Are Online Group Classes at EduWW Organized?
We took the best practice from one-on-one tutoring and implemented it in group classes. Instead of creating one large group for each grade, we have divided each grade into several groups. Tutors placed students in a group based on their progression level, personal interests, and study habits. That is how we made sure that online group classes will not significantly disrupt their current learning tempo.
Groups are small and consist of 4 to 10 students, and it’s not overcrowded. An online group class includes a lot of conversations between students and a teacher. It’s not just a teacher talking while students are listening. Our teachers encourage a discussion, and each student in a group participates. With this approach, students are getting more comfortable with expressing their own opinion. They also learn how to listen to others and respect different opinions. Ultimately, students develop conversational skills and critical thinking.
Group classes are available for core subjects — English Language Arts, Mathematics, History & Geography, and Science. An online group class lasts between 35 and 45 minutes and is organized once a week for each core subject. Contrary to individual sessions with a tutor, online group classes have predetermined timetables. We also had in mind that our students come from different countries, so timetables are organized with time zone differences in mind.
A student is not obliged to attend group classes, the same way we don’t compel them to take individual tutoring sessions. They can learn on their own if that is what they like. Yet, we recommend taking advantage of one or both of these forms of classes.
Different Tuition Fee Packages
The addition of group classes to the regular offer of Education World Wide services comes with a tuition fee change. Our online school will start offering two packages for the parents. If a family decides only for the group classes, they will pay a tuition fee of $3000 per grade. However, for families that would like their child to have both group and individual classes, the tuition fee will stand at $3500 per grade. Take a look at the table below to see what else the tuition fee covers.
Service / Tuition fee | Package 1: $3000 | Package 2: $3500 |

Families will still be able to pay the tuition fee in up to 10 monthly installments, meaning that the monthly installment will stand at $300 or $350 a month, depending on the package.
Unique Learning Experience
Education World Wide always strives to deliver a unique online learning experience to its students. To do so, we listen to our student’s needs and desires. After developing a very successful individual tutoring learning methodology, we involved group classes as well. With this new offer, we are tackling what seems to be one of the biggest concerns for parents and students regarding online learning — the lack of socialization.
Online group classes enable students to follow the learning material in a group environment with other students. More importantly, they can discuss the learning material and personal opinions on a particular topic with their classmates. Through these group classes, students also learn about different cultures, given that we are an international school. Likewise, they become open to intercultural differences, which is undoubtedly one of the best qualities a person can develop.
EduWW students now have the opportunity to choose what type of classes they want — only group classes or both individual and group. While one-on-one sessions with a tutor will enable them to customize their learning completely, group classes will open more room for socialization.
