As the famous saying goes, “All roads lead to Rome.”. This phrase inspired our school to choose Rome as the destination for our first school trip. Aside from being one of the most important places throughout history, Rome is also well-connected with every part of the world, making it the perfect location for our trip.
How Did Online School Decide to Organize a School Trip?
The students from our Prime program constantly showed great progress in school, so we decided to reward them by organizing an educational school trip that would also allow them to meet their peers in person and spend quality time together.
We enlisted a tourist agency specialized in excursions for children to create a suitable program for our group of students, and they exceeded our expectations. Tour guides delivered information in a specific way that engaged all students and made the learning experience interesting and fun. Of course, every student was accompanied by a parent because it was a long trip for many of them.
4 Wonderful Days with our Students
The first day was exciting because the students were so happy to see each other. Once the impressions settled, we visited the Colosseum, where we heard all about its history, gladiators and its impact as one of the most visited attractions in the world. Later, it was time for the famous Italian ice cream!
In the next two days, we visited Vatikan and strolled through the streets of Rome, passing the Spanish steps, Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona, river Tiber and all the lovely city architecture.
A cooking class workshop with the great Italian chef Andrea was a cherry on the top, saved for the last day of the trip. It was organized in a small kitchen creating a familiar and relaxed atmosphere. Every student got a task that included mincing, slicing, kneading, and baking, while making appetizers, main course and desert. Everyone loved it!
Most of the students were 6th graders who had learned about Rome as part of their lesson plan, so it was amazing for them to see everything in person. Additionally, each student got a backpack, a mouse mat, a pen that can be used as a phone or tablet holder, a notebook, and a USB – all branded with the school’s logo and colors – as a gift and a memento of their memorable trip.
To Summarize It
The success of this online school excursion confirmed the benefits of school trips on students’ learning by encouraging students to explore, strengthening the bonds between peers, and leading them to do better in school. It’s also inspiring for students on excursions to learn about other cultures right on the spot.
We hope to continue this as a tradition in the future years, giving our students the best educational experience and motivating them to explore and do their best.
